What versions of Windows does the software run on?
The
software will run on Windows 98SE and upwards. However there are special requirements for
the 3D Viewer program which is:-
VERY
IMPORTANT: You need a DirectX compatible
graphics card with at least 32 Mb on board memory, and DirectX 9 installed on your system.
Even if you have these specifications, you might still need to get the latest driver for
your graphics card from the manufacturers web site. To test your system, download the
test3D program from the Downloads page.
Is the Furniture Design software CAD software?
No. The
BFDesign software is nothing like conventional CAD. Furniture parts are broken into
logical units where you simply enter dimensions and specify allowances. The software does
all the work of drawing furniture parts and positioning them in a drawing area, and to a
system defined scale so that it can be visualized.

Can you make your own designs, or are you restricted to pre-defined plans?
Yes,
you do make your own designs, that’s why the software was developed. You can save
your designs and simply load and modify them for future projects if you want, and there
are a few samples in the database to get you started. Also the software is flexible enough
for you to make allowances for your preferred joining methods.
Does the software output data that can be used by other applications?
No.
Do you get a User Manual with the software?
No. You
will need to rely on the Help File at this stage. However, video-style tutorials are
available on the Registered Users Downloads page.

Can you
use inches?
Yes, but not by direct input.
You can enter inches through the use of a popup window which will convert inches to
millimetres. You can also choose to print the cutting list in inches.

Does
the software calculate optimized sheet cutting?
No. The software allows you
to manually position parts on a sheet to help determine sheet cutting. This has proven to
be very useful for most people.
